Vila Kader
Vila Kader (1873–1947) bila je američka književnica, novinarka i urednica. Diplomirala je žurnalistiku na Univerzitetu u Nebraski 1895. Napisala je dve zbirke poezije, pet zbirki kratkih priča (dve posthumno objavljene) i čak dvanaest romana, od kojih se najuspelijim smatraju O Pioneers! (1913), The Song of the Lark (1915), My Ántonia (1918), One of Ours (nagrađen Pulicerom; 1922) i Izgubljena dama (1923). Imigracija, egzil i nostalgija predstavljaju centralne motive njenog opusa, a Henrija Džejmsa je smatrala jednim od najvažnijih književnih uzora. Provela je 39 godina živeći sa urednicom Idit Luis, koja je u Nju Hempširu i sahranjena pored nje, što je u javnosti izazvalo dosta polemike o autorkinoj seksualnoj orijentaciji. Veoma je držala do svoje privatnosti i intelektualne svojine, te nikada nije dozvolila objavljivanje njene lične korespondencije, kao ni adaptacije njenih dela. Kako zbog, naročito za to vreme, progresivnog načina života tako i njenih dela, Vilu Kader danas možemo smatrati pionirkom borbe za prava žena, kao i klasikom američke književnosti.
